Hammer & Chisel - Week 1 Review

Hammer & Chisel - Week 1 Review

Sometimes you need a little help from your friends!

Sometimes you need a little help from your friends!

I can't believe I'm already one full week into Hammer & Chisel! It's been a great week full of challenging and fun workouts.

The week started out with some fairly intense workouts, and I was definitely sore! I did use the Beachbody performance line to help with this a bit - specifically Energy (before), Hydrate (during) and Recover (after). Each helped me with keeping up my energy level to crush the workouts and also to prevent me from becoming too sore afterwards. I did have one rest day and appreciated that, and some exercises were more low impact than others, which helped even things out.

I followed the meal plan very closely. I'm doing plan B, because I want to gain some more muscle and it actually increased my calorie count, which means I can eat MORE food! No problem! I had one cheat meal on Friday when I went to my husband's office party and we went out to dinner afterwards. I'm totally ok with it. I 'm a big advocate of the 80/20 plan, which means trying to eat healthy 80% of the time and having treats or higher calorie choices 20% of the time. This time of the year, it's just the right target for me.

The meal plan is easy to follow and I cooked three of the meals in the recipe guide - it was helpful to have this instruction about what to cook. Eating healthy this time of year and starting a new workout program is not easy, but having the support of my team and accountability group really helped me stick to the right eating plan!

This coming week is going to involve a bit of a change in my schedule, with the holidays coming up. My plan is to keep things simple. See my meal plan below!

Meal planning will keep me on track for the week ahead.

We Got Our Challenge Pack!

I only got my physical challenge pack mid week! I had been doing the workouts online, which means I didn't miss a beat, but it was still exciting to get the actual materials. I do think my son was even more excited than me!

Crushing It.

In the end, I'm finding that the workouts are challenging, but completely manageable. If you are a beginner I would absolutely start with 21 Day Fix and work your way up to this after a few rounds. See my FB page for more videos of my Hammer & Chisel workouts: https://www.facebook.com/yourgoodbetterbest/

Are you interested in this program or another one of my challenge groups to get your health back on track for 2016? I'm kicking off a new challenge group on January 11 and would LOVE to have you! Comment below, email me via the sidebar or  at bcortell@gmail.com if you ae interested!
