The Dirty Dozen and Clean 15
Summer has arrived here on the east coast, and produce is just starting to flow into the farmer's markets. I find that it can be so tricky to keep track of which produce and veggies are the best to purchase - organic versus non, GMOs, organic, local, pesticides...it's enough to drive one crazy.
When I first heard about the Dirty Dozen and Clean 15 I kind of dismissed the phrases and yet another trendy way to refer to something that is pretty stretighforward. It actually helps a lot though because it's a great way to remember what we should and should not be buy-in god the shelf, or at he very least avoiding.
As i said, I did NOT come up with these labels, but wanted to break them down for you here if you are looking for a quick list to memorize or even just keep handy when buying produce.
