Holiday Survival Guide

We are officially barreling into the holidays, and this is certainly NOT a traditional time of year to think about our health and fitness goals. In fact, most of us will put them to the side only to brush off the dust AFTER January 1st, wondering what just happened for 4 weeks.

This doesn't have to be the way. What would happen with enough motivation, support and and commitment? SUCCESS! There are are few key ingredients:

A Strong Drive: If you want to change more than you want to stay the same, you will reach your goals. It's about recognizing that progress is more important than perfection, and healthy eating + exercise is a lifestyle, rather than a 2-3 week crash course.

Commitment: Seeing anything through from start to finish can be difficult. You have to be willing to do what it takes, no quitting. If you are committed to consistency, from start to finish, you WILL come out ahead.

Trust & Belief: If you go into anything in life with a negative mindset, chances are you will fail. If you believe and trust the program you are following, it will set you up for success. Sure, it's easy to question if it's working fast enough, or if your progress is too slow, or if you need more cardio and less protein. These questions often lead to small tweaks in the plan, which can lead to frustration and failure. The programs that I'm offering WORK because they have been created by experts - trainers and nutritionists. They have designed them for a very specific reason.

Nutrition: Yup, this is painful, for me too. As someone who has had a lot of experiencne trying to out exercise a bad diet, I've learned that it just won't work. The painful truth - getting healthy is about 80% (maybe more) about nutrition. If you follow the plan and aim to follow it 80% of the time it works - yes you CAN have a treat here or there. It's about balance! This is not the time of year to cut out entire food groups, or deprive yourself. 

Think about how much better you can start feeling, NOW versus the new year. How would this holiday season look if you had more energy to get in all of your shopping, wrapping, visits with friends, extra work hours and everything else if you just ate healthier and exercised 30 minutes a day?

This holiday season I will be in the middle of Core de Force (a Beachbody home workout program) and I plan to stay on track! I am planning a balanced Thanksgiving dinner, and can guarantee you that I will be staying accountable to my workouts and eat on track 90% of the time.  Treats will happen, but they will be earned, and in moderation!
